Install Microtic VM

Download the CD image of a version of RouterOS from this page (x86 CD Image).

Aslo download winbox.exe

Create a VM and set the CD image as the ISO. Add two extra network cards and assign to appropriate networks in the hypervisor.

Boot the VM. When you get the option to install, press 'a' to select all and then select 'i' to install. Press 'y' several times to finish the install and reboot.

Default username is 'admin' and password is blank.

Launch Winbox and it uses MAC address to find the VM interface (make sure that one interface is plugged into a hypervisor VLAN that one of your laptops network interfaces is also plugged into).

• Set three Interfaces (third option from top)
• Set addresses for each interface (IP > Addresses)
  • Address field should be 10.1.1.7/24 (example)
  • Network field should be 10.1.1.0 (example)
• Create a single bridge for the first interface eth1 that connect to the hypervisor. (fifth option from top)
• Create a Bridge Ports that masp the bridge to interface eth1 ( Port tab in Bridge Window)
• Create a NAT rule (IP > Firewall)
  • Chain: srcnat
  • Src. Address 10.2.2.0/23
  • Dst. Address 0.0.0.0/0
  • Out. Interface : bridge1
  • (Under action tab) action: masquerade
