dns:route53

Route53

Route 53 is a domain reseller for the Amazon Registrar and its registrar associate, Gandi.

Because Route 53 is the reseller for Amazon Registrar and its registrar associate, GoDaddy, Route 53 is required to send the domain information to the registrar.

Amazon provides a DNS server for your VPC called the Amazon Route 53 resolver. It’s also known as “Amazon DNS server”, “AmazonProvidedDNS”, or “VPC +2”.

  • network ID + 2
  • the IPv4 address 169.254.169.253
  • the IPv6 address fd00:ec2::253

For example, if you have a VPC with an IPv4 CIDR range of 10.24.34.0, then you can reach the Amazon DNS server at 10.24.34.2 or 169.254.169.253 or fd00:ec2::253.
