NIOS Versions

Reasons to Upgrade

You are on a version of code that is going end-of-support (see below)
You require a feature that is only available in later code
You need to patch a security vulnerability (see here)
You need to patch a bug that is affecting your production system and a hotfix isn't suitable.
You have got several hot fixes applied and the new version of code bundles all the hotfixes into the release itself.

According to Infoblox’s official Software Life Cycle Policy, NIOS major versions are supported from the GA date for

12 months as General Maintenance (Regular patch release train for P1, P2 and P3 issues)
12 months as Limited Maintenance (at which point development ends) (Fixes for service affecting issues and sercurity vulnerabilities)
12 months as Limited Support (Investigations, Troubleshooting, Workarounds, Fixes for critical sissues upon request)
90 days of restricted support (Investigations, Troubleshooting, Workarounds)

General Availability New software releases with general maintenance support become available to the general public.
Active Maintenance Period Infoblox provides active support with routine patches and bug fixes on all significant issues.
Limited Maintenance Period Infoblox provides limited support for service-affecting issues and security vulnerabilities only.
Limited Support Period Infoblox provides investigations, troubleshooting, workarounds, and fixes for critical security issues only.
End-of-Life The software product reaches the end of its life. The last date that Infoblox provides support.

8.6 was originally going to EOL on 31 Oct 2024 but, in July 2024, this was pushed back to 30 April 2025.

X5 subscription SKU (VM) can be ordered up until 30 April 2024. There is no EOL for X5 Subscription SKU (VM)
